Happy New Year!

The start of the new year is always exciting!  For me- it’s a chance to start with a clean slate and look forward to tackling my list of goals for the year.  If you haven’t started your goal planning here are a few tips:

1.  Have a meeting with yourself.  Ask yourself what you want?  If you don’t know what you are aiming for it’s hard to get  going.  Come up with a list of things to work for.    Do you want to buy something new?  Learn something new?  Travel somewhere?

2.  Write your goals down.  Studies show that the most successful people write their goals down.  By writing your goal down you are making a committment to the goal.  Even if it’s a small goal –  write it out.

3.  Be specific.  Write down exactly what you want in as much detail as possible.  Want to be healthier?  Why not write out your goal weight and clothing size.  Working towards financial freedom?  Write down exactly how much you would like to earn and how you are going to do it.

4.  Tell someone.  Let others know what you are working towards.   By sharing your goals with friends and family you will have some instant cheerleaders on your side.  And if nothing else it will make you feel a little guilty if you are not keeping your commitments and will drive you to work harder!

5.  Don’t let failure get you down.  If you are working to lose 10 pounds and had a Super Bowl eating binge- don’t give up on your goal.  Get back on the horse and keep trying.

I know you have all seen these tips before- but it’s always a good reminder.  So- if you haven’t completed your list- start today!
